The grand CHEKI CHEKI poet contest is the main contest category of the CHEKI CHEKI poetry festival.The winner will get a cash prize of ksh.30,000,the first runners up ksh.22,000 and the second runners up ksh.12,000.

Other than the cash prizes,the three winners will also get a awarded a certificate of participation,and win a publishing deal for an anthology of poems from the festival patron,Fortune money publishing house,to be published in June 2021.

The winning poem will need to be among the 20 most popular for the three month duration of the festival,allowing readers to have a say in who wins,as measured using google analytics.The winning poems will also be those deemed best among-st the qualifying ones(those among the 20 most popular poems for the three month duration of the festival),by judges drawn from the sponsors of the festival.Only readership on the site House of Money will count as a metric,and the participating poems may not be published on any other site for the duration of the festival,otherwise they will be disqualified.

Poets,as for all other categories,will be assisted in driving reader traffic to their poems mainly through email back link distribution by one of the participating sponsors,fortune magazine,through an arrangement where the magazine provides suitable messaging to prospective readers(email recipients)and sends emails to double the email accounts(verifiable)shared by the participating poet,up-to a maximum of 20 addresses per month(send by the poet,meaning the magazine emails a maximum 40 recipients using it's own resources).

a poet can directly or indirectly enter this contest category.Direct entry is by entering a maximum of three poems by a poet into this category by specifying so in an email to fortunepublishinghouse@gmail.com.once entered ,a poem may only be removed from the contest by disqualification,which happens if we have proof that the poem has been published elsewhere during the duration of the festival.Indirect entry is where a poem submitted for the fortnight poet contest or poem of the month contest wins in those categories,getting an automatic entry into the grand CHEKI CHEKI poet contest.Both winners,first runners up's and second runners up's are considered winners in this context.

There is such a thing as narrative poetry,occasioned by the fact that most poets are also story tellers,hence the poems have elements of narration.Narrations to a poem is however a different subject,and involves a reader getting to deduce the narrative from a poem.
